1. What information do we collect?

In short: we collect information you give us, and some technical information is collected automatically when you visit our site.

Information you give us

We collect personal information you provide when you contact us, send a project brief, apply for work, submit casting materials, or otherwise interact with us. Depending on the interaction, this may include:

  • name, email address, phone number and mailing address;
  • company name and job title;
  • project details, budgets, and the content of your messages;
  • contact preferences; and
  • casting submissions: headshots and photos, video reels, casting specs, résumés, age, height and other measurements, availability, and agent or representative details. For minors, these are provided by a parent or guardian (see Section 9).

Please share only what is needed. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as government ID numbers, financial account details, health information, or information about racial or ethnic origin, religion or sexual orientation). If you choose to include it in a submission, we will use it only for the purpose you provided it.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, our website platform (Squarespace) and the analytics and advertising tools we use automatically collect certain technical information. This may include:

  • Log and usage data: IP address, browser type and settings, pages viewed, referring URL, date and time of your visit, and similar diagnostic information.
  • Device data: device type, operating system, screen size and language preferences.
  • Approximate location: country, region or city inferred from your IP address. We do not collect precise geolocation (such as GPS).

We collect much of this through cookies and similar technologies, described in Section 5. We use it to operate and secure the site, to understand how visitors use it, and to advertise our services.

Information from third parties

We receive limited information from service providers, such as traffic reports from Squarespace and Google Analytics and ad performance reports from Meta and LinkedIn. We also receive information from casting agents or representatives who submit talent on someone's behalf.

2. How do we use your information?

In short: to respond to you, provide our services, run casting, improve and secure our site, advertise our services, and comply with law.

We use personal information to:

  • respond to inquiries and project briefs, and provide the services you request;
  • review casting submissions and contact talent or their representatives about roles;
  • send administrative messages, such as replies, scheduling and changes to our terms or policies;
  • send marketing communications where you have agreed to receive them or where the law otherwise allows; you can opt out at any time (see Section 10);
  • understand how our website is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it;
  • advertise our services on Meta and LinkedIn, including showing ads to people who have visited our site, and measure how well those ads perform;
  • protect our website and business, including preventing spam, fraud and misuse;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights; and
  • protect someone's vital interests, such as to prevent harm.

We use casting submissions only for casting. We do not use them for advertising.

3. What legal bases do we rely on?

In short: where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent, a contract with you, our legitimate interests, or a legal obligation.

If you are in the EU, UK or Switzerland: the GDPR, UK GDPR and Swiss data protection law require us to explain our legal bases. We rely on:

  • Consent: for analytics and advertising cookies and pixels and, where required, marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time (see Section 10); this does not affect processing before withdrawal.
  • Performance of a contract: to provide services you have engaged us for, or to take steps you request before entering into a contract.
  • Legitimate interests: to respond to inquiries, review casting submissions, run and secure our website, understand site usage, and market our services to business contacts, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligations: to comply with tax, accounting and other laws, and to respond to lawful requests from authorities.
  • Vital interests: to protect someone's life or safety.

If you are in Canada: we process your information with your express or implied consent, which you can withdraw at any time, or where Canadian law permits processing without consent (for example, to investigate fraud, to comply with a subpoena or court order, or where information is publicly available as specified by regulation).

4. When and with whom do we share your information?

In short: we share information with service providers who help us run our business, with advertising partners through pixels on our site, and otherwise only in the limited situations below.

Service providers. We use vendors who process information on our behalf under contracts that limit their use of it. These include:

Advertising partners. We use the Meta Pixel and the LinkedIn Insight Tag. When you visit our site, they send Meta and LinkedIn your IP address, device and browser information, cookie identifiers, and the pages you view. We use this to show our ads to people who have visited our site and to measure ad performance. Meta and LinkedIn may also use this information under their own privacy policies. Some US state laws treat this as "selling" or "sharing" personal information or as "targeted advertising"; see Section 12 to opt out. We never send casting submissions or the content of your messages to advertising partners.

Clients and production partners. If you submit casting materials, we may share them with the client, director, agency or production partners involved in the project you are being considered for, only for that project.

Business transfers. We may share or transfer information in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition or sale of all or part of our business.

Affiliates. We may share information with companies under common control with us, who must handle it consistently with this policy.

Legal reasons. We may disclose information where required by law, to respond to lawful requests from authorities, or to protect our rights, our users or others.

With your consent. We may share information for other purposes with your permission.

5. Cookies and other tracking technologies

In short: we use essential cookies to run the website, and analytics and advertising cookies and pixels, which we load only with your consent where the law requires it. This section is our Cookie Notice.

What cookies are. Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and web beacons. We call them all "cookies" here.

Advertising cookies and pixels. The Meta Pixel and LinkedIn Insight Tag let Meta and LinkedIn recognize your browser so we can show our ads to people who have visited our site and see which ads lead to inquiries. See Section 4 for what they receive.

Your choices.

6. International data transfers

In short: we are based in the United States, so your information may be processed there.

Our business and most of our service providers are in the United States, which may have different data protection laws from your country. When we transfer personal information from the EU, UK or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum) or a provider's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions.

7. How long do we keep your information?

In short: only as long as we need it, unless the law requires longer.

InformationHow long we keep it

Client and project recordsFor the life of the relationship, plus up to 7 years for tax and accounting
Casting submissionsUp to 2 years, unless you ask us to delete them sooner
Website analytics dataFor the period set in our analytics settings, up to 14 months

When we no longer need information, we delete or anonymize it. If that is not immediately possible (for example, in backups), we store it securely and isolate it until it can be deleted.

8. How do we keep your information safe?

In short: we use reasonable safeguards, but no system is completely secure.

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, such as encrypted (HTTPS) connections to our website, access limited to people who need it, and reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending sensitive information through email or web forms.

9. Do we collect information from minors?

In short: our website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information online from children under 13.

Our website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. Anyone under 18 should not send us personal information without a parent or guardian's involvement.

Casting of minors. For roles involving minors, we accept submissions only from a parent, legal guardian or licensed agent, who must consent to our use of the minor's information for casting. A parent or guardian may ask us to review or delete their child's information at any time.

If you believe we have collected information from a child without appropriate consent, email contact@wrightfilmco.com and we will delete it promptly.

10. What are your privacy rights?

In short: depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or limit our use of your information.

Depending on applicable law (for example in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, Canada and certain US states), you may have the right to:

  • access and get a copy of your personal information;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • delete your information;
  • restrict or object to our processing;
  • receive your information in a portable format; and
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To make a request, email contact@wrightfilmco.com or use our contact page. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within the time the law requires. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Marketing emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails or by contacting us. We may still send non-marketing messages, such as replies to your inquiries.

Complaints. We'd like the chance to resolve any concern first. You may also complain to your local data protection authority:

11. Do-Not-Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers let you send a Do-Not-Track or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Our site does not currently respond to these signals. To opt out of advertising cookies and targeted advertising, use the "Manage Cookies" link in our site footer or decline advertising cookies in our cookie banner. If we begin honoring GPC, we will update this policy.

12. Privacy rights for US state residents

In short: residents of California, Virginia and other states with consumer privacy laws have additional rights, including the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising.

California "Shine the Light." California residents may request, once a year and free of charge, information about personal information we disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes in the prior calendar year. We do not make such disclosures. To ask, email us with "Shine the Light" in the subject line.

13. Third-party websites and social media

Our site links to other services, including Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok, and may embed content such as third-party video players. Those services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. If you interact with us on social media, the platform's policy governs what it collects.

14. Updates to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed, and changes take effect when posted. If we make material changes, we will post a prominent notice on our site or notify you directly.
